So yesterday started out well. We had stake conference yesterday and were able to hear some general authorities speak via broadcast. We went in a room all by ourselves that had the broadcast on so Carson could run wild, talk about his drawings that he was coloring for us, and chow down on snacks.
We left a little early so Carson could get a nap before we went to Aiwyn's 1st birthday party. He did nap for about 30-45 mins. and then we woke him up so we wouldn't miss the party completely.
Aiwyn's (my adorable little niece) party was great! It is obvious that she has a lot of people that really love her, including us. She is just the happiest, sweetest baby. Happy birthday, Aiwyn!
On the way home, Carson started going a little crazy. He was fussing and trying to get out of his car seat. I reached back to adjust him because he looked so uncomfortable when all of a sudden he starts vomiting. A lot of vomit. And then again. And then again. I used probably 15 wipes to try and get it off of him because he was crying and saying, "yucky, mess, mess, yucky." He doesn't like to be dirty so this was traumatic for him. I think he had a little of a panic attack when he got out of the car and saw throw up all over him and his seat. Adam hurried to take off his sweater and then got him in the bath. While Carson was bathing, I got the pleasure of cleaning his car seat. I put the cloth part in the washer and then cleaned the seat in the shower. It was nasty.
As I am doing this, Carson throws up 3 more times on the family room carpet. I lay him down on the couch under a towel and with a bucket. I thought he would be done vomiting. Well, Carson vomited over 20 times in 2 hours. I called a nurse advice line and she said he needed an ambulance. I told her we lived next door to Children's Hospital and we would leave then. So, to the emergency room we went. While there, Carson began vomiting about every 5 minutes and became very lethargic. He was like dead weight in my arms and his eyes started rolling to the back of his head. It was very scary. He would shoot up right before he would vomit and I would literally have to hold his body up so he wouldn't collapse.
They rushed us in to see a doctor (and by rush I mean we waited 30 mins instead of the 3.5 hours like everyone else). By this time, Carson's vomit count was over 30 and his vomit was neon green and he couldn't keep his eyes open or his body upright so I was panicking to say the least.
The doctor told us it was a virus that they were seeing a lot of it. They gave Carson Zofran to stop the vomiting. Carson vomited one more time and then went to sleep. We then were able to give him sips of Gatorade. After about 15 minutes, Carson opened his eyes, smiled at me, sat up and asked for more juice, his blanket, and his monkey. He then got very hyper and we were able to take him home.
Now, apparently this virus is VERY contagious. Unfortunately, Adam hasn't left the bathroom floor all morning. He is a mess. I feel a little queezy, but I am hoping that is just because it wreaks in my apartment and not because I will get sick. I have been cleaning like a mad woman, fret not.
As for Carson, he slept pretty good last night. He woke up once at 4:00 to ask for a drink and then when he woke up at 7:30 this morning he wanted another drink. I am having a hard time getting him to eat anything. I made him toast, a pancake, and have offered him 3 types of dried cereal. He isn't really interested. He is drinking well, though. I am hoping him and Adam will be back to their selves tomorrow. Pray for us!
